SOCIAL IMPACT

As a leading cultural company and a key figure in the book industry, the Libri Group is committed to active participation in social engagement.

In 2024, Libri’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program was expanded and renewed, with talent development becoming one of its key focus areas.
Under the name Libri Talent, new calls for applications and scholarship programs were launched with the aim of supporting emerging writers as well as young professionals seeking to build a career in the book industry. In addition, social partnerships are gaining increasing importance in order to strengthen the support of cultural and community values across a wide range of fields.

The previously launched, successful initiatives continue to thrive: the Bookline Lapozó network, which promotes the circulation of books, remains active, and every summer season brings the Bookline Book Swap Picnics. With the return of the Libri Literary Awards, we celebrate the success of our authors, while our reading promotion programs nurture the love of reading. Fundraising campaigns involving our customers are also organized to provide assistance to communities where it is most needed.

Libri’s programme for nurturing talent

Libri Talent is a comprehensive scholarship and talent support programme, which was first launched in 2024 with the aim of promoting Hungarian authors, supporting talented young writers and providing professional educational opportunities, in order to enhance the Group’s social responsibility programme to include education-related goals.

Libri Talent encompasses all the initiatives we take to help contemporary Hungarian writers launch their careers and train talented professionals in the book industry.

Writers’ grant programme

The KEZDŐSOR writers’ grant programme supports emerging Hungarian authors through a nearly one-year long writing mentoring programme. Participants can benefit from the guidance of professionals in the book industry, and work with mentors to refine their manuscripts for publication. In addition to mentoring by writers, the grantees can also gain comprehensive market knowledge as part of the First Line programme.

Training for publishing managers

The BEKEZDÉS training course for publishing managers offers learning opportunities for the next generation of publishing professionals. The six-month training, with a practical focus, aims to provide an insight into the process of creating books, from manuscript care to book preparation for printing and sale, with the help of renowned experts in the book industry.

Children’s Storytelling Competition

Libri Talent Mini aims to provide an opportunity for Hungarian writers and illustrators to create contemporary Hungarian children’s literature. The best stories selected by the program will be offered publication opportunities, as well as prominent visibility in Libri bookstores and on Libri platforms.

Libri Literary Prizes

Reading together!

Libri, as a committed supporter of culture, considers the promotion of reading and contemporary Hungarian literature as one of its main goals. We launched the Libri Literary Prizes in 2016 to provide prestigious awards for Hungarian authors who have made a significant contribution to the intellectual and cultural heritage of Hungary. Our goal is to make these books available to as wide an audience as possible.

In 2024, the Libri Literary Prizes were revised. Taking into consideration the readers’ choices, we have expanded the categories of the traditional event.

Reading Promotion

Every book contributes something to who we are

Libri and Bookline regularly run periodic campaigns at a national level to promote the love of books and reading to as many people as possible. In our increasingly digitised and fast-paced world, reading is particularly important and plays a unique role in transmitting and preserving culture. End-of-year Christmas campaigns and self-published ornamental volumes play a key role in Libri’s mission to promote culture and reading every year.

Fundraising and Book Donations

Help a story become beautiful!

For Libri, the support of organisations that aim to help children in difficult situations is of particular importance. We regularly launch fundraising campaigns in our online stores and shops to support the charities we work with to help children. Our contribution is not just about fundraising, as the cooperation is regularly complemented by joint programmes and book donations.

In addition to supporting organisations that help children, we are committed to supporting reading promotion, nurturing talent and education. Selected books are donated to hospitals, rural schools, community centres, libraries and other organisations that feel a similar sense of responsibility towards these goals.

A gift book for all students

The joint programme of Libri Bookshops and Jelenkor Publishing, launched in 2021, aims to promote reading and to enable young people to get to know the works of outstanding contemporary authors of the past decades.  Each year, a free selection of books is made especially for them and can be picked up in bookshops on presentation of a student ID. This year, a selection of writings by Miklós Mészöly, Ágnes Nemes Nagy, Péter Nádas, Szilárd Borbély and János Térey, a volume of András Visky’s works was published and gifted to thousands of students.

Bookline LAPOZÓ

Trade in any of your books for something extraordinary at a Bookline book exchange point!

The Bookline LAPOZÓ programme aims to promote the sustainable circulation of books and to encourage reading. Instead of a one-off reading experience, we want books to be a community experience involving as many people as possible on a regular basis. Our nationwide book exchange point network makes it easy for anyone to find their next read. As part of the Bookline LAPOZÓ programme, we also organise complementary events and campaigns to promote a culture of reading and a mindset of sustainability.

Bookline Book Swap Picnic

Bring a book, take a book!

Book Swap Picnics are a series of highly successful events that have taken place on several occasions, based on the idea that the life of a book does not end when you finish reading it. Instead, it can be passed on and given new life in the hands of others. At Bookline Book Swap Picnics, anyone can drop off their unused books and choose from the selection on the free shelves. Hundreds of books are exchanged at the plaid blanket picnic event, which includes accompanying cultural programmes to emphasise the sustainable circulation of books and make reading a real community experience.

Kórházi olvasósarkok

Ahol a valódi hősök születnek

Libri Mesepontok

2018-as karácsonyi kampányunkban több mint 45 000 könyvadományt gyűjtöttünk össze gyerekek számára. Olyan hátrányos helyzetű gyerekekhez szerettük volna eljuttatni az olvasás élményét, akik máskülönben könyvek nélkül töltötték volna a karácsonyt. A kampány sikerét látva programunkat kibővítettük, így immár a Libri teljes bolthálózatában, egész évben várjuk vásárlóink könyvadományait.

Állandó CSR-partnereink

Évek óta dolgozunk együtt az Egy Szív a Gyermekekért Alapítvánnyal, amely olyan magyar gyerekeknek nyújt támogatást, akiknek a gyógykezelése Magyarországon nem megoldható. Szintén állandó partnerünk a Csodalámpa Alapítvány, amely súlyos beteg gyerekek kívánságait teljesíti.

Employer branding

Természetesen a Libri Magazin nyomtatott verzióját is felelős forrásból származó papíron bocsátjuk olvasóink rendelkezésére.
