In line with its strategic objectives, the Libri Group strives to ensure long-term business stability through, among other things, development and expansion. An important step on this path is the acquisition of Édesvíz Publishing, whose integration into the publishing group will be a priority task in the upcoming period.
One of the most prominent publishers on the Hungarian book market, Édesvíz has been bringing popular self-help, lifestyle, self-improvement, and esoteric books to Hungarian readers since its founding in 1989. One of the most important aspects of the publisher’s activities is the preservation of the works of Mária Szepes, but authors such as Rhonda Byrne, Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra, and His Holiness the Dalai Lama have also had there works published here.
Among the most successful publications are Roxie Nafuosi’s book Manifest, with 46,000 copies sold, Rhonda Byrne’s series The Secret, with more than 110,000 copies sold, and Mária Szepes’s book The Red Lion with nearly 37,000 copies sold.
“With this latest acquisition, the Libri Group has reached an important milestone. The book market is unique in many ways, but one of its most defining characteristics is that it does not compete within the market itself, but rather competes with a wide range of leisure activities for readers’ attention and time. In such an environment, it is particularly important to have a diverse and stable selection, to monitor trends, to actively promote reading, and to strive to bring valuable content as close to people as possible,” said Gyula Köbli, CEO of the Libri Group.
